Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Student Teaching Option

Program Overview:

The Early Childhood Special Education Special Education (ECSE) Student Teaching Option at California State University, San Bernardino can be completed in one to two years.  The program leads to a Preliminary Education Specialist Instruction Credential: Early Childhood Special Education with the English Learner (EL) Authorization.  Candidates complete all coursework and supervised fieldwork prior to beginning full-time teaching in the special education classroom. Students may be accepted into the program during the fall and spring semesters. Individualized course sequences are provided that specify the credential requirements. The course sequence is coordinated so candidates attend classes with the same students throughout the program at the San Bernardino Campus or the Palm Desert Campus. Candidates are required to complete one, fifteen-week supervised fieldwork experiences.* The university supervisor provides direct support to the candidate and is the liaison between the personnel at the school site, district, and university.
