Better Together: California Teachers Summit

Friday, July 28, 2017 - 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM

California teachers are working hard to foster inclusive classrooms, spark learning and equip all students to succeed. Now more than ever, teachers deserve an opportunity to come together and share ways to support our students, protect our values as educators and set an example for the nation.

On Friday, July 28, join thousands of teachers from across California for a FREE day of learning featuring a TED-style EdTalk presented by a local teacher and Edcamp discussions led by teachers, for teachers. You will walk away with access to the latest strategies and tools you can bring back to your classroom, and connect to a lasting and powerful network of peers.

Together, we can ensure that every California student receives a quality education and is prepared to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead.

As you gear up for the Summit, follow us on Facebook and Twitter and join the conversation using #BetterTogetherCA.

Dean's Message

Dr Jay Fiene
Dr. Jay Fiene

The College of Education is a leader in the region and the nation in the development of professionals in education and human services. Our fully accredited programs are among the most respected in the region, having in many cases both state and national accreditation such as the prestigious National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Central to any accreditation processes is that a college demonstrate adherence to a conceptual framework. Our conceptual framework describes the qualities we want to see in each of our graduates. We describe that person as a "wise teacher/professional educator".

A "wise professional educator" has developed rich subject matter knowledge and uses sound pedagogical strategies and judgment. The wise educator respects a variety of viewpoints and has an appreciation of context and sensitivity to a variety of cultural perspectives. Finally, the wise educator recognizes the complexities of teaching and learning and demonstrates a willingness to try a variety of ways of supporting and assisting student learning and development.

Welcome to our Website. You will find many options and opportunities within these pages.
