  • Completion of EESL 521 (Technology-Enhanced Language Learning) (may be completed after matriculation, as a part of the program)

Master's Core:

  • EESL 660 Second Language Acquisition Research

TESOL Concentration:

  • EESL 536. Crosscultural Teaching (4)
  • EESL 543. Listening/Speaking in TESOL (4)
  • EESL 544. Reading for TESOL (4)
  • EESL 545. Writing Methods in TESOL (4)
  • EESL 670. Principles and Practice in TESOL (4)
  • EESL 542D Special Topics: Academic Writing (4)
  • EESL 685. Research in TESOL (4)
  • Four units chosen from:
    • EESL 679. Fieldwork: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (4) or
    • EESL 680. Practicum in TESOL (4 units)
  • Four units from the following which will also satisfy the graduation writing requirement:
    • EDUC 600. Master's Degree Project (4);
    • EESL 999. Comprehensive Examination (0) plus four units of electives chosen from EESL 500, EESL 501, EESL 542D, EESL 665, EESL 678 or other electives approved by adviser

Co-requisite:

  • Native speakers of English must take 2 semesters or 3 quarters of ANY foreign language (this can be certified from the undergraduate transcript) before graduation
  • Non-native speakers of English must take the above (foreign langugage other than English) OR COMM 120 (Oral Communication) before graduation
