Joey's Born
Joseph Anthony (Joe Tony)
Scarcella, Jr.
April 6, 2000
On April 6, 2000, my wife, kids, and I (the coach) embarked on our journey, the birth of our third child at 6:00 o'clock in the morning. This was our second attempt. Last week, we were sent home due to a false alarm. Still, we spent nearly 18 hours at the hospital.
Our girls have been real troopers! They prepared for this charge with equal excitement. As we left the house, my oldest daughter was a little concerned...tears rolled from her face. We checked in at Redlands Community Hospital in hopes that our new born would join our family by noon. This was wishful thinking and I should have known better. Recalling the excitement of our first born and my wife's laboring, I vaguely remember over 16 hours of bitter sweet emotions. Our second child took the same persistence. A complicating factor, nearly ten years have passed since our second child was born.
In any event, to shed light on our experience,
the following pictures were taken throughout the day for our family and
friends not able to join us. The beauty of Technology and the
Internet! The girls and I wrote this story, trying to make
fun out of this miraculous experience. We are proud of our new family addition
and know you will as well. Oh what a night!
My wife just after check in and
without food for 12 hours. She is a little anxious. Sweet thing!

After a full breakfast and an hour
or so after our arrival to the hospital...I asked, "What's
the hold-up? I have work to do and have to be
back at work by noon!" Keep in mind, her meals were ice chips all day.

The girls in the waiting room, still waiting! Stubborn child, taking after his mother. Shhhh! Don't tell her I said that. Our two girls were holding up fine! 6:00 p.m. |
