Educational Leadership and Curriculum

The mission of the Department of Educational Leadership and Curriculum is to prepare educational leaders who will work collaboratively with others to establish a positive climate for powerful teaching and learning in the 21st century. The faculty is dedicated to working with our diverse graduate students by assisting them in acquiring appropriate knowledge, skills, and dispositions that will result in well-prepared school leadership teams.

Educational Psychology and Counseling

The mission of the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling is to prepare education and human service professionals through expert teaching and research. Our department seeks to provide for the education of students by supporting the professional development of faculty members whose expertise is in the fields of educational counseling, rehabilitation counseling and educational psychology (foundations, child and adolescent development, early intervention, or school psychology). We are committed to the development of curricula, courses, and programs that transform individuals and communities through the realization of the practices and beliefs outlined in the CSUSB College of Education Mission Statement and Conceptual Framework.

Language, Literacy and Culture

Our department is committed to developing and supporting educators whose dedication to teaching and learning nurtures within their students the capacity for respect of multilingualism, intercultural understanding, critical literacy, and creative, lifelong learning.

We believe that language, literacy and culture are the core elements of humanistic models of education grounded in equity and social justice. We are dedicated to preparing teachers for leadership roles framed by visionary research and action-based models that honor human diversity and are grounded in an unwavering commitment to educational excellence for the public good.

Science, Mathematics and Technology Education

Our department's mission is the development of scientific, mathematical, and technological literacy for all students through the education of teachers. The department focuses on student-centered, inquiry-based instruction and life-long professional development and leadership of educators, informed by research in these areas.
